Five Eastern Bay of Plenty students start their tertiary studies this year, backed by a collective $30,000 in Bay of Plenty Education Trust scholarship money.

BOP Education Trust Science, Technology and Emerging Industries Scholarships have been awarded to Serene Ratu, Whakatane High School; Amy Pilkinton and Romy van der Boom, Trident College; Chelsea Aim-Linstead, Opotiki College and Jamie Wennink, Edgecumbe College.

The five, who all graduated from their respective high schools and colleges last year, will each receive $6,000 in scholarship money that will be paid in instalments over their years of study.
